Class Description

Summer Mini Handbuilding Workshop No wheel required — just your hands, some clay, and a little patience. This three-session summer workshop walks you through the fundamentals of handbuilding, using two of pottery's oldest and most satisfying techniques: pinching and coiling. In your first session, you'll use your fingers to pinch and coil clay into shape, building walls, forming curves, and discovering what your hands are capable of. The second session brings your pieces back for refining, and decorating; smoothing seams, adding texture, or carving in detail. In your final session, you'll glaze your work and send it into the kiln. Three days. Two ancient techniques. No makeup classess. We are a scent-free environment. NOTE: A minimum number of students must be enrolled for the class to proceed.

Cancellation Policy

Studio Policies Students are not permitted to load, unload, or operate pottery kilns. Keep hair tied back for safety. Avoid wearing loose articles of clothing or jewelry that could pose hazards. Closed-toe and closed-heel footwear must be worn in the pottery studio. Do not operate any equipment without the presence of an instructor. We are a scent-free environment. All completed work must be collected from Ford City Potters within 6 weeks after the final class, once you're notified by email. Work will not be stored after 6 weeks. Students are expected to arrive on time for each class to ensure the smooth running of the session. Late arrivals cannot make up for lost time. For whatever reason, if Ford City Potters must cancel a session or class, students will be notified via email, and a full refund will be issued. Classes must be paid in full upon registering on the website (credit card or PayPal accepted). Classes are non-refundable. Makeup days are possible only for glazing days, and only if a space is open in another class. Students are expected to maintain a respectful and inclusive environment in the classroom, treating the instructor and fellow participants with courtesy and consideration. Zero tolerance for disruptive or disrespectful behaviour. In other words, be kind at all times.
