Class Description
A 2.5-Hour Introductory Sculpture Workshop What happens when you wrap strips of clay around a balloon, let it dry, and pop it? Something unexpectedly beautiful. In this fun, hands-on workshop, local artist and renowned teacher Jerry Jarecki will guide you through the meditative process of draping clay strips over an inflated balloon to create unique, organic forms. When the balloon pops, the magic begins. What you could make: A bowl, an organic vessel, a lantern, hanging ornaments, garden spheres, pendant lamp shades, wall art — or something entirely your own. This workshop is open to all skill levels — beginners and experienced potters alike will find something to love in this tactile, playful process. If you've ever wanted to explore hand-building and sculpture without the pressure of the wheel, this is your fun evening workshop. What to expect: Two and a half hours of guided making, a little creative problem-solving, and the extremely satisfying moment when your balloon disappears and your piece stands on its own. All materials included. We will dip your piece in your glaze of choice for later pickup. Teens welcome! NOTE: A minimum number of students must be enrolled for the class to proceed. Full refund if it's cancelled.
