Christmas Mugs for Everyone!
Christmas Mugs for Everyone!

When did you first fall in love with pottery?

I tried out this random pottery class in a church basement about 5 years ago. I made some matching little cups for my husband and I with our names on them. I was so proud I displayed them when we first moved into our home.

How has working with clay made a difference in your life?

Clay has given me an outlet to simply be myself. I was into the arts when I was younger and have somehow lost my way as I pursued nursing as a career. And while I’m proud to be an ICU nurse, I do miss being creative and pottery has given me back that passion.

Do you have a favorite piece you’ve made so far and what is the story behind it?

I actually love the plates I made at Ford City Potters during their beginners course! (I swear It's not an ad! Haha). They’re the first pieces I’ve decided to keep and use for myself! My goal now is to fill our kitchen cabinets with my pottery!

Favorite tool?

Mudtools sponge and a wooden rib.

Favorite clay?

Ouuuu, love a dark red/dark chocolate clay.

Best local spot?

I love Wolf and Rebel who also happens to house Mooni Matcha and Avocado Pit sushi!

What do you like to listen to when you work?

Lo-fi, 90s anime bangers.

What is your next pottery goal, or skill you’re most keen to learn?

I’d like to start throwing  bigger and more elaborate pieces. I’d also love to learn handbuilding. Currently working on my first dinnerware set for my family, I’m really excited for that.

What is the best part of being a member of a pottery studio?

I love the people here at Ford City Potters. They’re so lovely and supportive. Everyone brings in a fresh new perspective and I love learning from them!
